Community, a Second Class Traditional Ruler and a member of the Rivers State
Council of Traditional Rulers and the Ikwerre Supreme Council of Traditional
Rulers.
Today 19th of April, 2016 joined other of his fellow Traditional Rulers from Rivers State at the 103rd quarterly meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers at the council Secretariat in Port Harcourt.
The Governor of the State, His
Excellency Chief Barr. N. E. Wike attended the meeting briefly before the
traditional rulers started their meeting.
The Governor while addressing the
103rd quarterly meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in
Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said: "The March 19 Elections were a referendum
on our administration. It was a resounding approval of the good works we have
done".
He stated that his administration
has demonstrated commitment to the development of the state through the
judicious application of resources.
The governor urged the traditional rulers to cooperate with law enforcement agents and the state government to uproot cultists and criminal elements from their communities.
He assured the traditional rulers that he will continue to liaise with them in the process of governance to get their inputs for the development of the state.
"We will continue to hold
traditional rulers in high esteem as custodians of customs and traditions
", the Governor added.
In his remarks, Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, King Dandeson Jaja, Jeki V, Amanyanabo of Opobo commended the governor for reviving consultation with traditional rulers.
He called on the governor to continue to consolidate on the gains of security measures taken while improving on the welfare of traditional rulers in the state.
Eze Ejike while speaking with Newest Rivers Reporters said that the Traditional Rulers are ready to work with the Governor to move the state forward, because His Excellency is a man of his words.
He advised the Governor to continue in the way he is going, that Rivers People like it. That they will continue to pray with him and pray for him, that those of them who can also libate will do so for the gods of the land to continue to strengthen him and give him wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.
Eze Ejike accessing the Governor said the Governor has done so much for the state. Using his Local Government (Obio/Akpor) as example, said within the period the Governor has been in office, he has done very well and that he is still doing more. Pointing at some projects in his LGA, like the; Oro-Igwe Road, Rumuokwurusi – Igwuruta Road, Elelenwo Road, Woji Road, etc.
He thanked the Governor for what he is doing and advised him to continue, that God and the people are with him.
The meeting was attended by traditional rulers from the 23 local government areas of the state.
