In a colourful event held yesterday the 1st day of June, at the NUJ Press Center, Moscow Road PH, Eze Ejike Princewill Wali was honoured with three awards from the National Union of Rivers State Students, RSUST Chapter, Youth Federation for World Peace and the Niger Delta Youth Forum.
Chairman of the Occasion was Eze (Barr) Eze Kpalukwu, Nyenwe-Eli, Paramount Ruler, Rundele. In his opening remarks, he said that having known Eze Ejike Wali for more than 20 years, he was deserving of the awards being that he has played an active role in the development of Youths and the actualization of peace in his kingdom and the state at large.
The Guest speaker Eze Dr. Chris Akanni, Senior Lecturer Department of Political Science Ignatius Ajuru University spoke on the Topic "The Role of Traditional Institutions in peace making and Youth Orientation". In his lecture, Eze Chris Akanni emphasized that Colonialism was not for the benefit of Africa and advised Traditional rulers not to abandon Traditional institutions and oracles. Also he advised youths to shun restiveness and cultism and spoke against the blowing up of Pipelines in the Niger Delta.
The high point of the event was the presentation of the Award by the three bodies.
Comrade Emmanuel Ezezuke presented the Golden Star Award on behalf of NURRS, RSUST.
Also Comrade Emmanuel Goodhead on behalf of NDYF presented the award of Excellence in Good leadership and Grand Patron of NDYF.
Lastly the Youth Federation for World Peace represented by the South South Zonal Coordinator Amb. Green Isaac presented an award as an International Ambassador for Peace.
In his closing Remarks Eze Ejike Princewill Wali thanked everyone who graced the occasion and said that he took his time before accepting the awards. He further went ahead to reiterate his commitment to the development of youths and the actualization of peace in his Kingdom, Rivers State and the country at large.
In an interview session with Newest Rivers Reporters, Eze Wali Ejike said that the need to achieve peace was his drive in undertaking several ‘Educational Philanthropic’ activities aimed at the Youths. He also said that Traditional Rulers should stop giving out chieftaincy titles to criminal elements, stand for the truth and desist from frolicking around Politicians.
The Eze was accompanied by his wife Lolo Blessing Wali, his community chiefs and elders, youths, family women, brothers/sisters, friends and well wishers.
