AN INTERACTIVE SECTION BETWEEN THE NATIONAL UNION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES (Phalga Chapter) AND THE MAYOR OF PORT-HARCOURT SIR SAM SONI EJEKWU.
This is yet another laudable initiative put together by the phalga Boss to discuss with Phalga Nulge ways of improving the standard of living of council staffs and proactive measures in addressing their welfare.
Political appointees as well as the leadership of Nulge were fully represented.
The caretaker Chairman said that he will continue to ameliorate the standard of living of council staffs through the prompt payment of their salaries and other entitlements attached to their offices.
The phalga Boss stated this during the interactive section with Nulge. He thanked Nulge for their support since his emergence as phalga boss and Reiterated his resolve in partnering with Nulge because the task is too enormous for him alone.
Furthermore; He frowned at the no work syndrome being practiced by some staffs. He said "why look for employment if you know you won't come to work". He urged them to take their work serious.
The Chairperson of Nulge(Phalga Chapter) Mrs Chinwe Nmerukini congratulated the Sir Sam on his reappointment and also prayed that his reappiontment will be a blessing to the workforce and people of Port Harcourt as it was in his first.
Mrs Chinwe thanked the phalga boss for the opportunity given to staffs through the interactive section to state their needs.
Contributions from staffs were geared towards one direction; the need for the prompt payment of their salaries, provision of office space and the revitalization of the automobile workshop in the council secretairat.
Responding; Sir Sam promised in revamping the automobile workshop of the council and also mandated the Hlga Mr Franklin Ajunwo to note the number of staffs in need of office space and allocate same to them.
The Chairman closed with these words
" we are focused about the welfare of the local government employees, whatever pro
blem that may arise in the course of discharging your duties,myself and other principal officers will try as much as we can to address the situation. So your duty as a staff of this Council is to give your best for the system which will enable us work as a family.
